Aqaba, Oct. 6 (Petra) -- Jordanian small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to enter foreign markets are receiving targeted support through the "Local to Global" program, hosted by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

Implemented by Jordan Export House and the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), the program is designed to improve the export readiness of industrial and service companies, with particular emphasis on businesses that have never exported before.

The initiative helps participating companies identify potential markets, understand entry requirements and develop the capabilities needed to move beyond the domestic market and compete regionally and internationally.

ASEZA Commissioner for Economic and Investment Affairs Mohammad Abu Omar said the program gives Jordanian companies an opportunity to assess target markets and prepare for expansion into new destinations.

He said closer cooperation among institutions supporting the private sector is essential to strengthening the competitiveness of Jordanian businesses and creating greater opportunities for growth and international market access.

Jordan Export House Chairman Maher Mahatleh said the program focuses on helping SMEs make the transition from serving the local market to exporting their products and services.

Companies need more than a market opportunity to begin exporting, he said, noting that they must understand the requirements of target markets and ensure they are operationally prepared to meet them.

The program therefore provides participating businesses with support to build their export capabilities and prepare for entry into regional and international markets, helping expand the presence of Jordanian products and services abroad.

The initiative targets industrial and service SMEs across the Kingdom, particularly first-time exporters, as part of broader efforts to strengthen private-sector competitiveness and give local businesses a clearer path to growth beyond the domestic market.
