AMMAN, Oct. 6 (Petra) -- Police arrested an elderly man Tuesday after a resurfaced social media video showed him physically assaulting a young girl.

The Public Security Directorate's Family and Juvenile Protection Department traced the footage to the capital, establishing that the incident occurred three years ago amid domestic disputes that went unreported at the time.

Authorities confirmed the suspect is the child's paternal grandfather. The girl and her mother were brought in for evaluation; officials verified the child is safe, in good health, and living with her mother as protective legal and social measures are enacted.
