Amman, Oct. 7 (Petra) - This year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to French chemist Henri Kagan and Japanese chemist Kenso Soai for their pioneering work on non-linear effects and auto-catalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said on Wednesday that their discoveries solved a century-old mystery: how single-handed, mirror-image molecules naturally emerge and dominate in chemical systems.
Their breakthrough revolutionized methods for producing single-handed molecules, a crucial process in modern drug design and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The two scientists will equally share the prize, valued at 12 million Swedish kronor (approximately JD850,000) //Petra// HA
