Indian Embassy celebrates National Day

Amman, August 15 (Petra) – The Indian Embassy in Amman celebrated the 80th anniversary of India's Independence Day on Saturday, in the presence of a "large" gathering of members of the Indian community in the Kingdom, a number of Jordanian friends and media representatives.

During the ceremony, the Indian National Song, "Vande Mātaram," was performed. The Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, raised the Indian flag, and then a band played the national anthem.

In his speech, Chauhan conveyed greetings of the Indian President to the attendees, reviewing India's developmental and cultural journey since its independence, and its role on the regional and international stages.

The ambassador congratulated members of the Indian community in the Kingdom and abroad on this occasion, valuing their contributions to strengthening ties and people-to-people relations between India and Jordan.

He also commended his compatriots' "active" engagement in the events and activities held by the embassy.

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom and relevant authorities for their ongoing support and cooperation with the Indian community and the embassy, particularly given the difficult circumstances the region is facing.

The event featured cultural performances by members of the Indian community, distribution of prizes to the winners of the special edition of "Discover India" competition.
