Jordan, U.S. Discuss Defense Cooperation, Regional Security in Washington

Amman, July 22 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti met in Washington on Tuesday with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Thomas DiNanno to discuss deepening military ties between the two nations.

Held on the sidelines of Al-Huneiti’s official visit to the U.S. capital, the bilateral talks centered on bolstering strategic defense and security cooperation. Both officials reviewed ongoing regional developments in the Middle East and evaluated joint initiatives designed to support regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, Al-Huneiti reaffirmed the strength of the strategic alliance connecting Jordan and the United States, underscoring the necessity of continuous coordination and inter-agency dialogue to counter shared security threats.

DiNanno praised the enduring partnership between Washington and Amman, highlighting the Kingdom’s essential role in regional security while reiterating the U.S. commitment to expanding mutual defense and security frameworks.
