JUST opens 10th Int'l medical conference

Ramtha, August 19 (Petra) – Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) President Khaled Al-Salem said on Wednesday that the rapid medical advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, are reshaping the future of medicine, diagnostic and treatment mechanisms, education, and scientific research.

In opening remarks at the 10th International Conference, organized by the JUST Faculty of Medicine, he stressed the importance of employing technologies "responsibly and ethically," thereby enhancing the role of physicians, elevating the quality of healthcare, and preserving its human essence.

The two-day conference, themed "Towards Clinical Excellence and Innovation in Healthcare," is attended by physicians, researchers, and academics from various healthcare fields in Jordan and abroad.

The transformations align with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which focus on investing in human capital, developing education, empowering innovation, and leveraging technology to strengthen a knowledge economy and Jordan's competitiveness, Al-Salem said.

He said developing medical education and integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, practice, and scientific research has become a national imperative to bolster Jordan's status in education, health, and scientific research fields.

Al-Salem noted that JUST had acquired the (ACGME-I) international accreditation for postgraduate medical education (GME) Sponsoring Institutions and residency programs, reflecting its advanced standing in medical training, quality of education, and patient safety.

The opening session was attended by Royal Medical Services Director General, Brigadier General Dr. Sahel Al-Hammouri, Jordanian Medical Association President Dr. Issa Khashashneh, a number of Jordanian health sector leaders, directors of public and private hospitals, deans of faculties, and medical students from the university.

For his part, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Firas Qarqar, noted that the conference brings together a select group of physicians, researchers, and specialists to exchange experiences and discuss latest medical developments.

The conference, he pointed out, offers a specialized scientific platform for dialogue and to review modern experiences and practices in various medical specialties.

The conference focuses on clinical excellence and innovation in healthcare, including artificial intelligence, digital health, precision medicine, and modern medical technologies, in addition to workshops, simulations, and interactive clinical training.

The scientific program covers such specialized medical topics as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, oncology, infectious diseases, neurology, and medical education.

It also includes specialized sessions on AI, modern technologies and treatments, acute care, mental health, advanced surgeries, women's health, and primary healthcare.
