AMMAN, Nov. 3 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Labour has renewed its call for non-Jordanian workers who entered the Kingdom for purposes other than employment and have never obtained work permits to take advantage of a Cabinet decision allowing them to regularize their status, as the deadline for the measure approaches on December 1.
Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said in a statement on Tuesday that the decision allows eligible workers to obtain legal work permits by paying the full work permit fee, in addition to a one-time payment of JD 500 covering all previous years, regardless of their number.
He described the decision as an exceptional opportunity for workers and employers across all economic sectors and activities, including domestic employment, to regularize workers' status at a reduced cost and avoid penalties for violations.
Zyoud stressed that labor inspection teams will continue conducting field visits across the Kingdom's governorates. Workers found without valid work permits, or those who have changed employers or professions without authorization, will be deported.
He added that deportation flags will be placed in the electronic systems against workers who fail to regularize their status, effective January 1. Legal action will also be taken against employers found in violation.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to regulating the labor market, protecting employment opportunities for Jordanians and ensuring that non-Jordanian workers remain in the Kingdom in accordance with the law.
