Wild Jordan House Reopens After Renovation as Expanded Ecotourism Destination

Amman, Sept. 1 (Petra) -- The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), in cooperation with EcoHotels Company, on Tuesday reopened the newly renovated Wild Jordan House in Jabal Amman, expanding the landmark’s role as an ecotourism and sustainable hospitality destination overlooking the Amman Citadel.

The reopening ceremony was held under the patronage of Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Issawi, who toured the renovated facilities and highlighted the project as a model for investing in ecotourism while preserving Jordan’s natural and cultural heritage.

The renovated site now includes the Jear restaurant, five hotel rooms, three meeting and event spaces, and a redesigned Nature Shop offering locally made and artisanal products. The site’s prominent view of the Citadel remains one of its key attractions.

Issawi praised the quality of the renovation, noting that the project preserved the site's distinctive character while enhancing its ability to offer an integrated tourism experience reflecting Jordanian identity and its environmental and cultural heritage.

He said projects of this nature demonstrate how conservation can be combined with economic and social development by supporting local communities and creating sustainable opportunities, in line with efforts to diversify Jordan’s tourism offerings.

The Jear restaurant features a menu inspired by Amman’s cultural diversity and culinary heritage, presenting traditional recipes with a contemporary approach. Its five indoor and outdoor spaces offer direct views of the Citadel.

The renovated Nature Shop features products made by women from communities located near the RSCN reserves, including natural soaps, herbal products, textiles, ceramics and environmentally inspired artwork. The initiative links nature conservation with local economic development by providing markets for products made through the RSCN’s community-based handicraft programs.

The reopening builds on the RSCN and EcoHotels Company’s partnership in managing Feynan Ecolodge and Yarmouk Lodge. The two sides aim to establish Wild Jordan House and the Jear restaurant as a vibrant destination reflecting Amman’s identity while supporting the RSCN’s conservation programs across the Kingdom.
