Acting Lower House Chief, GAM head review municipality projects, plans

Amman, Aug 26 (Petra) – Acting Speaker of the Lower House Khamis Atiyeh on Wednesday called for supporting development and investment plans to elevate the level of services in Amman and carry out projects that positively impact the service and development landscape.

The Acting Speaker spoke at a meeting with newly-appointed Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee Ahmad Malkawi, wishing him success in serving the capital's people.

Atiyeh noted the municipality implements job-creating development projects and investment and economic programs, which contribute poverty reduction and unemployment, as well as developing infrastructure and public facilities to meet the needs of the capital's residents.

He lauded GAM for supporting the cultural, artistic, and literary movement, and the facilities and spaces it provides for hosting cultural events.

For his part, Malkawi noted the legislature's oversight functions, following up on service and development matters, and addressing citizens' needs.

The GAM head reviewed key projects currently underway, as well as plans for the coming period.
