Energy Ministry, int'l partners discuss Green Building Project updates

Amman, July 12 (Petra) –Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Amani Azzam, met on Sunday with partners in the Green Building Project to discuss the project's progress, implementation updates, and the necessary steps to obtain green building certification.

During a meeting attended by representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Ampere, a sustainability solutions provider based in Amman, Azzam urged continued coordination and cooperation among all participating entities.

According to a ministry statement, Azzam stressed the need to implement the project, based on the highest technical standards, which would enhance energy efficiency and cut resource consumption.

She noted the project reflects the Ministry of Energy's commitment to implementing green building and sustainability principles and supporting the Kingdom's initiatives in the energy, environment, and climate action areas.

The meeting reviewed the project's goals and its importance in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in government buildings.

Discussions also addressed efforts of the change management team to ensure the project's success, aligning with the ministry's focus on improving energy efficiency and implementing the best global practices in the green building sector.

For its part, Ampere presented a report on the phases of the energy audit study and its project-related results.

Additionally, the green building gap report was reviewed, which featured an assessment of the structure's current status, compared to the requirements for green building certification, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement and the necessary actions to meet the certification prerequisites.

Participants discussed the progress made in implementing the project, the next steps, and the mechanisms for implementing the required upgrades to ensure the building meets the EDGE certification requirements within the approved timeframe.
