Jordan, UNRWA Discuss Camp Services, New School Year

Amman, Sept. 1 (Petra) -- The Department of Palestinian Affairs and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) discussed preparations for the new school year, services provided in refugee camps, and potential joint projects.

Department Director General Rafiq Khirfan and UNRWA Affairs Director Amanya Michael Ebye reviewed preparations for the start of classes at UNRWA schools, stressing the importance of ensuring a suitable learning environment and the regular operation of the education process.

The two sides also discussed UNRWA projects in the camps and ways to align them with residents’ needs and priorities, as well as follow-up on proposals and needs identified during a recent meeting at Martyr Azmi Al-Mufti Camp. They reviewed proposals for joint projects between the Department and UNRWA aimed at addressing service and development priorities in the camps.

Khirfan stressed the importance of continued coordination to improve services for Palestinian refugees and ensure that future projects respond to the practical needs of camp residents.

Ebye reaffirmed UNRWA’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Department on education, services, and projects implemented in the camps.
