PM directs Social Development Ministry to provide safe heaters to citizens

Amman, Oct 7 (Petra) – During Tuesday's Cabinet session, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan directed the Ministry of Social Development to continue replacing citizens' unsafe heaters with safe ones.

The decision comes out of a government commitment to provide citizens with safe heating devices ahead of winter, allowing them to change heaters which may lack safety standards with ones that meet safety specifications.

Last January, the Cabinet tasked the Social Development Ministry with replacing 15,000 unsafe heaters, allocating the necessary funds for the initiative, which will be carried out through the ministry's centers across the governorates.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply and relevant regulatory bodies to step up inspection measures at factories and retail outlets involved in the manufacture and sale of heaters, ensuring that safety standards are applied to all heating appliances.

He urged the need to identify violations and address them in accordance with the laws and regulations, vowing no leniency in enforcement.
