Transport Minister, Truck Owners Association Officials Discuss Enhancing Fleet Efficiency

Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra)- Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine, in the presence of Chairman of the Parliamentary Public Services and Transportation Committee Ayman Al-Badadweh and MP Khaled Al-Masamrah, on Monday discussed with President of the Jordan Truck Owners Association Mohammad Al Dawood and Vice President Ibrahim Al-Ghzawi ways to enhance the truck fleet in a manner that contributes to raising the efficiency of the sector.

The minister listened to issues facing the trucking sector, during which several proposals were discussed to enhance operations, develop the sector, and resolve the difficulties and challenges it faces.

Katamine stressed the importance of trucking and land transport as a vital sector and a national interest, given its pivotal role in supporting the national economy, trade movement, and supply chains. He pointed to the Ministry of Transport’s keenness to work in partnership with the syndicate and relevant bodies to enhance the fleet’s technical and operational efficiency, thereby reflecting on service quality, road safety, and cost reduction.

For his part, Al-Baddadweh affirmed the Parliamentary Public Services and Transportation Committee’s support for government efforts aimed at developing the trucking sector, stressing that enhancing the competitiveness of this sector contributes to stimulating the national economy and achieving a balance between the interests of workers in the sector and the public interest.

The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport Fares Abu Dayyeh and Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) Riyadh Al-Kharabsheh. A number of issues related to the trucking sector and mechanisms for institutional cooperation between the Ministry of Transport, the LTRC, and the Jordan Truck Owners Association were discussed.
