Zarqa, July 19 (Petra) –Public Safety Committee in Zarqa Governorate conducted an intensive inspection tour on several food establishments, which detected violations and initiated necessary legal and administrative measures against the breaching entities, in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities.

In remarks to "Petra," Acting Governor of Zarqa, Muhyiddin Adwan, said the committee's inspection tour over the past 2 days led to destruction of 283.5 kilograms of meat and food products unfit for human consumption.

Adwan noted 22 head of sheep were transferred to Greater Amman Municipality slaughterhouse to administer the necessary veterinary checks to ensure their safety.

In this context, he announced the veterinary test results showed that 17 heads were unfit for human consumption, which were dealt with, in accordance with established procedures to protect public health and safety.

Underlining continuation of the committee's regular field inspection tours, he vowed zero tolerance against violations or transgressions affecting public health or contravening public safety requirements.

He called on owners of food establishments to adhere to approved health instructions, standards, and requirements, which would strengthen the food safety oversight system and contribute to a healthy and safe environment for citizens.
