Petra, Feb. 23 (Petra)-- Albanian President Bajram Begaj visited the ancient city of Petra on Monday as part of an official visit to Jordan, accompanied by First Lady Armanda Begaj.

He was welcomed upon arrival by Adnan Sawaier, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), and Commissioner for the Reserve and Tourism Yazan Mahadin.

Begaj toured key landmarks in the red rose city and was briefed on its history and global importance as one of the new seven wonders of the world and a leading international tourism destination.

The Albanian leader called on the Siq, the Treasury, and other major sites, expressing admiration for Petra’s distinctive heritage and the beauty of Nabataean civilization, while praising ongoing efforts to preserve the world heritage site for future generations.

The visit is part of efforts to strengthen Jordanian-Albanian ties and underscores the role of cultural tourism as a bridge between peoples that promotes dialogue, mutual understanding, and Petra’s standing on the global tourism map.
