Yarmouk University discusses project to develop Museum of Jordanian Heritage

Irbid, June 29 (Petra) -- Sharifa Nofa bint Nasser, a board member of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology at Yarmouk University and head of the faculty's Museum of Jordanian Heritage committee, met on Monday with the President of Yarmouk University, Malek Alsharairi, to discuss a proposed development project for the museum.

The meeting focused on execution mechanisms to upgrade the museum into a specialized scientific, cultural, and tourism destination. Sharifa Nofa praised the university's role in preserving cultural and archaeological heritage, noting that the modernization project will strengthen the museum's status as a knowledge center for researchers, students, and tourists.

She added that the project also aims to extend tourist visits to the city of Irbid through strategic partnerships between the university and relevant tourism authorities, thereby boosting the local economy and promoting the kingdom's cultural heritage.

Alsharairi affirmed the university's commitment to upgrading its academic and cultural facilities, expressing the administration's full support for the museum's development. He emphasized its national value in preserving and displaying archaeological artifacts using modern curation practices.

The two sides reviewed the main features of the proposal, including architectural and programming updates designed to align the museum with international standards of collection management and interactive display.
