101st Special Battalion holds ceremony for Crown Prince

Amman, July 14 (Petra) -- Members of the 101st Special Battalion, a unit of the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces, held a ceremony on Monday for His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, to mark the conclusion of the Crown Prince’s service as deputy commander.

While meeting with the battalion personnel, His Royal Highness expressed deep gratitude for his service with the unit, citing the diverse experience and strong bonds of military camaraderie.

For his part, the commander of the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces commended the Crown Prince’s valuable contributions to the battalion, highlighting the importance of His Royal Highness’ drive to advance military capabilities by integrating modern technology and the latest innovations.

Serving with the 101st Special Battalion, the Crown Prince earned his Special Forces qualification after completing the rigorous course that encompassed a wide range of specialised training modules, including coexistence, vehicle-based engagement and disengagement, combat search and rescue, guerrilla warfare, marksmanship with various medium-calibre weapons, tunnel combat, close-quarters combat, and training in the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles.

In November 2025, His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, presented His Royal Highness with the Special Forces sword patch, after the Crown Prince completed all requirements for obtaining it.

His Royal Highness will continue his military service in the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
