Irbid, July 18 (Petra) – The Irbid office of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission on Saturday signed an agreement with the Regular Frequency Company, which operates buses on the Irbid-Jerash route, to implement a high-frequency public transport system.

The system relies on fixed and scheduled departure times for buses, even if they are not fully loaded or empty, office Director Mohammad Alawneh told Petra in an interview, adding that 15 buses will operate on a reciprocal frequency system, with buses departing from the new Amman terminal in Irbid to Jerash and from the Jerash terminal to Irbid.

The system is expected to be up and running by the end of the month, with buses equipped with frequency counters, electronic payment systems, and other technologies to activate the service, he said.

As part of its future plans, the regulatory commission aims to generalize and expand this experience, Alawneh pointed out, adding that the next phase will see the application of the same frequency system, operational mechanism, and technology to the Irbid-Zarqa route, with the goal of developing the inter-governorate transport system, improving services to commuters, and ensuring a regular bus service.
