Amman, April 4 (Petra) – The Jordan Customs Anti-Smuggling Directorate dealt with three major drug smuggling cases in 48 hours in an ongoing crackdown on smuggling to protect society and the national economy, the directorate said on Saturday.
Northern Military Zone patrols seized a vehicle with 80,000 Captagon drug pills and referred the case to relevant authorities for legal action, it said.
In a chase, patrols of the Southern Military Zone seized 29,000 Captagon pills, and two kilograms of marijuana were confiscated in an operation following intelligence gathering in cooperation with security bodies, it said.
The Customs Department said its personnel continued to carry out their national duty in close cooperation with security agencies to protect the national economy and society from the scourge of drugs and its danger to individuals and society.
It urged the public to report any suspicious acts that affect the national economy or public health and to call the toll-free number (105) of the Anti-Smuggling Operations Center.
