Amman, Nov. 6 (Petra) – The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched a training program for travel service providers and workers in the tourism sector on Thursday.

Held in cooperation with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) and Ammon Applied University College (AAUC), the program aims to develop workers' skills and enhance their sustainability in the labor market.

In a statement, the ministry said the training program reflects its "commitment" to developing national talent and raising "quality" of tourist services.

The statement added that the initiative complements the 2024-2026 Skills Development Strategy for the Tourism Sector, which aims to align skills with labor market requirements, ensure sustainability of employment opportunities, and improve the training quality.

The program also comes within the framework of the pivotal role of the Kingdom's tourist sector, as a "key driver" of the national economy, in line with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision, particularly in the area of developing human capital and enhancing the sector's worker efficiency.

Additionally, the program seeks to empower Jordanian youth to enter the local and regional labor market by providing practical and vocational training sessions.

Regarding its scope, the program targets training 450 participants, including 250 travel service providers and 200 employees of tourist establishments, under training programs spanning 40 training hours at VTC's institutes located nationwide and the AAUC's headquarters.

On the trainee incentives, the program provides participants with a transportation allowance of JD75, certified certificates from partner organizations, as well as educational materials, work garments and occupational safety gear.

The registration link for the training program will be launched mid-next week, which would enable interested tourist sector employees and service providers to register and benefit from the available training opportunities.

As for its axes, the program covers various fields, mainly developing skills of restaurant and hotel staff, traditional artisans, travel agencies, tour guides, and local community experience providers.
