Amman, Aug. 6 (Petra) -- Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) exceeded JD4 billion during the first seven months of the current year, reaching JD4.506 billion compared with JD4.212 billion during the same period of 2025.

According to the chamber’s statistical report, exports recorded a 7 percent increase during the period, supported by the diversity of industrial products, the expansion of export markets, and access to non-traditional markets in Africa, Europe and non-Arab Asian countries.

The chamber said exports by most industrial sectors increased during the period, with the exception of the mining industries sector and the engineering and information technology sector, which declined by 1.9 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively.

The packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies sector recorded the highest export growth at 44.4 percent, while the leather and garments sector recorded the lowest growth at 1.1 percent.

India, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Iraq were the main destinations for Amman Chamber of Industry exports during the period, with combined exports to these markets reaching JD2.282 billion.

Exports to Saudi Arabia rose 1.5 percent to JD499 million, compared with JD491 million during the same period last year. Exports to Iraq increased by 24.1 percent to nearly JD644 million, compared with JD534 million, making Iraq the largest Arab and foreign destination for Amman Chamber of Industry exports.

The report showed that exports to Syria increased by 25.1 percent to around JD234 million, compared with JD186 million during the same period last year. Exports to Palestine also rose by 27.9 percent to around JD121 million, compared with JD94 million during the corresponding period of 2025.

Exports also increased to several Arab and international markets, including Spain, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Denmark, Sudan, China, Germany, Morocco, Greece, Angola and South Africa.

By geographic distribution, Arab countries accounted for the largest share of exports at JD2.338 billion, followed by non-Arab Asian countries at JD1.009 billion and North American countries at around JD569 million.

Exports to European Union countries reached about JD303 million, while exports to non-EU European countries totaled JD152 million. Exports to African countries stood at JD53 million, South American countries at JD37 million and other markets at around JD45 million.

Exports to the United States declined by 23.1 percent to around JD534 million, compared with JD694 million during the same period last year. Exports to India also decreased by 13.6 percent to about JD605 million, compared with JD700 million during the same period of 2025.

By sector, mining industries accounted for JD1.010 billion of exports, followed by chemicals and cosmetics at around JD937 million, food, agricultural and livestock industries at JD619 million, engineering, electrical and information technology industries at JD574 million, pharmaceutical and medical supplies industries at JD454 million, and leather and garments industries at JD373 million.

The remaining exports were distributed among the packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies sector at JD213 million, plastics and rubber industries at JD194 million, construction industries at JD118 million, and wood and furniture industries at JD14 million.

The Amman Chamber of Industry, established in 1962, has around 8,600 industrial establishments as members, employing 159,000 workers, with capital estimated at about JD5 billion.
