Ajloun, Aug. 12 (Petra) -- The Agricultural Credit Corporation's (ACC) Ajloun branch has provided JD1.25 million in loans to farmers since the beginning of the year, while loan collections totaled around JD1 million over the same period.
Branch Director Bashar Nawafleh told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) Wednesday that the financing is directed toward a broad range of agricultural and rural activities, including food processing, land reclamation and development, solar energy projects and modern water-saving irrigation technologies.
The lending programs also support rural households and women's economic empowerment while seeking to generate employment and alleviate poverty and unemployment in rural communities.
Nawafleh said the ACC provides concessional financing across the agricultural value chain, from purchasing land and agricultural machinery to livestock and poultry production and the processing of agricultural products.
Specialized loan programs are also available to women and young people in rural areas to finance income-generating projects and create sustainable employment opportunities.
The corporation is also financing agricultural projects that adopt modern technologies to raise productivity, improve product quality and strengthen the competitiveness of Jordanian agricultural products, while providing small loans in rural areas to support livelihoods and employment.
Financing extends to agricultural infrastructure, including irrigation networks and water desalination facilities, as well as climate adaptation projects such as water-efficient technologies and protected agriculture, Nawafleh said.
He added that the corporation provides farmers with technical and advisory support and cooperates with public- and private-sector entities on projects aimed at advancing sustainable agricultural development and strengthening food security.
The ACC is currently extending loans through a dedicated portfolio targeting young people and applicants unable to provide sufficient collateral, in an effort to broaden access to agricultural financing, Nawafleh added.
