Ajloun, April 5 (Petra) -- The Ajloun Agriculture Directorate has held a specialized training course titled "Dairy Processing -- Production of Non-Traditional Cheeses," as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's Farmer Field Schools plan.
The course was held under the patronage of Ajloun Agriculture Director Seitan Sarhan, in cooperation with the Rasoun Youth Center, as part of the "Achieving land degradation neutrality targets through restoration and sustainable management of degraded land in Northern Jordan" project, which is supervised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented in cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society, and overseen by the Directorate of Extension Programs in the agricultural extension sector.
Implemented by the directorate's agricultural extension department, the course provided hands-on training in the production of spreadable cheese as one model of non-traditional cheese, with the aim of increasing the added value of agricultural products and enabling local communities, particularly in rural areas, to develop small-scale productive enterprises.
Organizers stressed the importance of such training programs in transferring practical knowledge to farmers and beneficiaries and in strengthening their food processing skills, in ways that help improve income sources and support agricultural sustainability.
The course was supervised by an agricultural extension team comprising engineers Omar Qawaqneh, Omar Qudah, and Ayat Abu Zeitoun, along with Royal Scientific Society representative Khadijah Atiyat.
