Ajloun Develops Educational Tourism to Connect Learning with Local Heritage, Environment- Stakeholders

Ajloun, Oct. 21 (Petra) Educational tourism, which links classroom learning with real-world experiences through natural and heritage sites, is emerging as a distinctive feature in Ajloun, leveraging its environmental and cultural diversity to foster awareness and community belonging.

Chairman of the Ajloun Governorate Council, Mouawya Anab, said the council supports projects connecting education with tourism, highlighting their role in boosting tourist activity, raising environmental awareness, and showcasing Ajloun as a destination that combines knowledge, nature, and culture.

Mohammad Jaradat, Director of Ajloun Youth Directorate, noted that educational tourism is a key pillar in youth programs aimed at empowerment, fostering their connection to their environment, while the directorate supports initiatives blending practical learning with community engagement.

Adnan Fraihat, Coordinator of the "All Jordan Youth Commission (AJYC) in Ajloun, described educational tourism as an advanced method of integrating learning with experience, allowing youth to explore their governorate through tours that combine education, entertainment, and community service.

Nusaiba Momani, a member of the Alosrah Cultural Forum, said these educational tourism routes turn the environment into an open classroom, reinforcing environmental concepts and aesthetic appreciation.

Suhaib Zghoul, a member of the Space for Sustainable Development, emphasized that developing educational and tourism routes creates social and economic opportunities for local communities, encouraging participation in authentic rural and environmental experiences and promoting sustainable community tourism.
