Al-Fayez Conveys King's Message to Uzbekistan President

Amman, Feb 4 (Petra) - Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez conveyed a verbal message from His Majesty King Abdullah II to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, underscoring His Majesty’s greetings to the president and wishing Uzbekistan and its people further progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.

In the message delivered by Al-Fayez on Wednesday, the King affirmed pride in the strong and solid friendship ties between Jordan and Uzbekistan and keenness to move forward in strengthening and enhancing them in various fields, as well as continuing coordination and consultation on ways to advance bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

During the Uzbek president’s reception of Al-Fayez and the accompanying delegation, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his deep appreciation and respect for the King, stressing the strength of relations between the two friendly countries and the convergence of their views on various issues of common concern.

The President of Uzbekistan conveyed his greetings to the King and his wishes for Jordan for further progress and prosperity, praising the high level reached by bilateral relations.

He said there is a shared understanding by both countries of the importance of strengthening cooperation in various fields and building on relations of friendship.

For his part, Al-Fayez expressed appreciation for the high level reached by Jordanian-Uzbek relations, which are based on mutual respect and joint cooperation, according to a statement by the Senate.

Al-Fayez said that his visit and that of the accompanying delegation to Uzbekistan comes within the framework of the Senate’s keenness to build on the achievements of the state visit made by the King to Uzbekistan, at the invitation of President Mirziyoyev, with the aim of serving the common interests of the two countries and peoples and working to open broader horizons for economic, investment, and parliamentary cooperation.

He praised Uzbekistan’s positions supporting the King’s efforts aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East, while also appreciating Uzbekistan’s firm stance on the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The meeting also addressed the importance of implementing the agreements reached at the summit that brought together His Majesty the King and President Mirziyoyev, held in Samarkand last August, related to developing comprehensive partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Jordan.

It also stressed the importance of activating parliamentary friendship groups in Jordan and Uzbekistan and strengthening their role in implementing agreements concluded between the two countries, in addition to enhancing cooperation in trade, industry, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian fields.

The meeting underlined the need to hold the first meeting of the Jordanian-Uzbek Joint Committee and the Business Forum for leading companies, scheduled to be held in Tashkent this year.

During the meeting, attended by Senators Salameh Hammad, Administrative Committee Chairman Tawfiq Kreishan, Rapporteur of the Financial and Economic Committee Amer Al-Hadidi, Chairwoman of the Culture, Youth and Sports Committee Haifa Al-Najjar, and Jordan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan Demia Haddad, views were exchanged on current international and regional issues.
