Al Hassan Stadium's rehabilitation complete at over 50%: Youth Minister

Amman, Sep. 17 (Petra) – Minister of Youth Dr. Raed Adwan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri checked on progress in implementing the rehabilitation project for Al Hassan Stadium in Irbid governorate.

During their tour on Wednesday, the duo also reviewed completion rates of the current project.

The ministers called for accelerating the project's completion on schedule, while adhering to required technical specifications.

As for its goals, they said this effort ensures the stadium's readiness to serve Jordan's northern clubs and the sports community in Irbid and the northern governorates.

Adwan stated that the ministry rejects any disruption to sports activities in Irbid, fueled by recurring issues in the stadium, specifically the annual appearance of fungus in the previous turf.

He voiced the ministry's commitment to resolving these problems to ensure the pitch's "long-term sustainability and readiness" to serve northern clubs and the local sports and youth sectors.

Citing technical defects to exceute a full rehabilitation process, he said this situation required specific technical and construction work at an estimated cost of JD850,000, He announced funds are allocated by the ministry to expedite the tender requirements, announcing the project is now more than 50% complete.

Adwan affirmed the ministry is overseeing the project’s execution, in accordance with the stadium's technical needs, aimed to deliver an "efficient" facility to host club matches, tournaments, and sporting events, which would ensure continuity of sports activities in the governorate.

The stadium's rehabilitation project, which is part of the Ministry of Youth’s broader efforts to develop sports facilities and enhance their readiness, ultimately serves clubs, athletes, and youth in Irbid and the northern governorates.
