Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) -- The Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) announced Sunday that the Amman Civil Airport, commonly known as Marka International Airport, has been officially rebranded as Amman City Airport and granted an operating license to conduct civil aviation flights.
The decision comes as part of the CARC’s ongoing efforts to support civil aviation projects in line with government directives and the Economic Modernization Vision, which seeks to develop infrastructure and strengthen Jordan’s role as a regional hub for logistics and air transport services, according to a statement.
Chairperson of the CARC Dhaifallah Farajat handed the license to Jordan Airports Company (JAC) Director General Ahmad Azzam.
Farajat said that fulfilling all operational requirements demonstrates the JAC’s commitment to applying the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency, noting that the CARC will continue to oversee all operational phases to ensure the airport’s readiness and the provision of quality passenger services.
CARC approved the new name, Amman City Airport, as part of efforts to establish a distinct operational identity and align the airport with the urban landscape and services it provides to the capital.
