Amman Mayor, S. Korea Envoy Talk Municipal, Urban Cooperation

Amman, Jan. 6 (Petra) Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee, Yousef Shawarbeh, on Tuesday met with Ambassador of the Republic of S.Korea to Jordan Kim Pil-woo to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and joint action.
According to a GAM statement, Shawarbeh commended the Jordanian-Korean relations, which are based on "continuous" cooperation, affirming the municipality’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and supporting areas of joint work that serve common interests.
Shawarbeh also stressed the importance of partnership and expaned Amman-Seoul cooperation across various fields, particularly in transport, urban development, environmental sustainability, city resilience, and infrastructure development, which would achieve sustainable development, improve service delivery, and enhance quality of citizen life.
For his part, Pil-Woo praised the GAM's efforts in promoting partnerships and international cooperation with friendly cities.
The diplomat commended the level of Amman's development in municipal, urban, and cultural fields, as well as the municipality’s plans and projects aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving services for the city and its residents.
GAM and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on joint cooperation and expertise transfer in smart traffic management and urban mobility.
Under the MoU, the two sides will copperate in smart city solutions, resilience and climate change mitigation, waste management and the recycling economy, sustainable water resource management, development of green public spaces, and capacity building and training.
