Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee Ahmad Malkawi on Tuesday inspected the municipality’s Information and Communications Technology Directorate, reviewing its work and key projects to upgrade digital infrastructure, improve the efficiency of technical systems and services, and support digital transformation and business continuity.
According to a municipality statement, Malkawi was briefed on a project to upgrade the municipality’s technical infrastructure by migrating from the PCA X5 platform to PCA X10, as part of efforts to modernize its technology environment, improve system performance and maximize the use of available technological resources and assets.
The project has progressed through planning, preparation, migration, verification and closure, with the targeted migration from the legacy platform to PCA X10 completed.
The new platform is now the primary operating environment for the relevant systems, providing a more suitable technical foundation for future growth and expansion.
Malkawi was also briefed on plans to repurpose PCA X5 to support the municipality’s disaster recovery system rather than decommissioning it after the migration.
The move will maximize existing investments, provide an additional platform for service recovery when needed, and strengthen the municipality’s readiness to address potential technical risks and disruptions.
The next phase will include completing disaster recovery requirements, including approving the final system design, configuring backup and recovery processes, verifying services, conducting recovery tests, and documenting and handing over the system for operation to ensure full operational readiness.
Executive Director of the Information Technology Directorate Sultan Kharabsheh said the infrastructure upgrade is an important step in developing the municipality’s digital work environment by improving the efficiency of technology resources and strengthening the sustainability of electronic systems and services, and repurpose the previous technical platform as an asset supporting disaster recovery and business continuity.
He said the municipality plans to develop its disaster recovery system at the Aqaba Digital Hub, strengthening business continuity and enabling the recovery of technical services and systems during emergencies as part of an integrated plan to enhance digital resilience and readiness.
