Amman, March 19 (Petra) -- The Public Security Directorate (PSD)’s media spokesperson said the Anti-Narcotics Department carried out a wide series of targeted security operations and raids in recent days against drug dealers and traffickers across the Kingdom.

In a statement Thursday, the spokesperson said the biggest operation was conducted in East Amman, as 12 suspected dealers and traffickers were arrested and quantities of narcotics were seized.

In South Amman, another operation led to the arrest of eight suspects, with narcotics and firearms found in their possession.

Among the most significant cases handled in the capital, a special Anti-Narcotics Department team foiled an attempt by two suspects to manufacture crystal meth in East Amman.

Acting on intelligence, officers placed the suspects under surveillance before raiding the apartment once they began the production attempt. The raid resulted in their arrest and the seizure of various chemicals used in the manufacture of the drug, along with chemical formulas.

In the Eastern Badia, authorities recovered 100,000 narcotic pills hidden in a desert area by a smuggler who was later arrested, while in Ruwaished district, another drug smuggler was apprehended during a raid on his home and found in possession of 50,000 narcotic pills.

In the Central Badia, officers tracked and arrested a suspected dealer, discovering 10 kilograms of marijuana concealed in a secret compartment inside his home.

In Irbid governorate, a special team monitored a suspect linked to regional drug smuggling networks before raiding and arresting him after confirming his possession of narcotics. Authorities seized 100,000 narcotic pills in the operation.

In Madaba, three suspected dealers and traffickers were arrested after authorities raided a tent allegedly used to distribute and sell narcotics. Officers seized 15 slabs of hashish, 2,000 narcotic pills, and a firearm.

As for the case in the Central Badia, three suspected drug promoters were arrested with 5,000 narcotic pills in their possession.

In West Balqa, officers raided the locations of four suspected drug dealers and seized 13 slabs of hashish and a quantity of marijuana.

During separate operations, a suspected promoter was arrested in Irbid with five slabs of hashish and 500 narcotic pills, while in central Amman another suspect was apprehended with 14 slabs of hashish.

Regarding the latest case, authorities in Madaba arrested a suspected drug dealer found in possession of nine slabs of hashish.
