Aqaba, April 16 (Petra) -- The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) is accelerating the development of its digital infrastructure as part of efforts to position the city as a regional hub for the digital economy and attract global technology investment.

ASEZA Commissioner for Investment and Economic Affairs Mohammad Abu Omar said the next phase will focus on building an integrated investment environment capable of attracting international technology firms, while linking these investments to specialized training programs aimed at equipping local talent and creating high-value job opportunities.

During a field visit to Aqaba Digital City, Abu Omar said the authority is working to align infrastructure development with workforce readiness, ensuring that training outputs meet the needs of the labor market.

He noted that ASEZA recently approved the licensing of a digital academy in the city, aimed at organizing technical training pathways and improving the quality of outcomes in line with industry requirements.

Abu Omar said the authority is seeking to attract new global technology investments by leveraging Aqaba’s advanced infrastructure and operational readiness, alongside the availability of qualified human capital.

He added that competitiveness in the digital economy depends not only on infrastructure but also on the readiness of skilled talent, emphasizing the need to align training with sectors such as software development, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

Aqaba Digital City Chief Executive Officer Iyad Abu Khorma said expansion plans include strengthening data center capabilities, enhancing digital infrastructure, and building partnerships with local and international technology companies.

He said the city provides an integrated business environment that enables companies to operate efficiently, while also offering practical training opportunities for young professionals within operating firms.

The approach supports faster integration of graduates into the labor market and strengthens the supply of skilled talent to meet the growing demands of the technology sector.
