Aqaba Authority Continues Environmental Awareness Campaign

Aqaba, May 29 (Petra)-- The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, continued its environmental awareness and cleanup campaign for the second consecutive day in the Al-Sadasiyat area, as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the cleanliness of the city and promote environmental awareness among residents and visitors during the Eid holiday season.

Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety at ASEZA, Nidal Al-Aouran, said the campaign is being implemented under the national plan to reduce littering and aligns with the authority’s vision of enhancing environmental sustainability and fostering a culture of social responsibility and volunteerism.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among institutions, organizations and individuals in protecting the environment and maintaining public facilities.

The campaign included extensive field cleaning activities across the area, in addition to direct awareness outreach targeting citizens and visitors on the importance of protecting the environment and adopting positive practices that help keep public areas clean and safe.

Al-Aouran noted that these efforts reflect the civilized image of Aqaba as a distinguished tourist and economic destination, especially during periods of increased activity in public spaces.

The campaign was attended by Director of the Environment Directorate Taghreed Al-Maaytah, environmental police personnel, and several community and volunteer initiatives in Aqaba, including the "Leave a Trace" initiative, the "Positive World" initiative, and the Joint Services Council, as part of efforts to strengthen community partnerships and support volunteer work aimed at protecting the environment.
