Aqaba, June 17 (Petra) -- The coastal city of Aqaba, represented by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), participated in the 10th World Cities Summit 2026 hosted by Singapore, the authority announced on Wednesday.
The global event brought together representatives from more than 250 international cities and 103 municipal leaders, alongside decision-makers, experts, academics, corporate chief executives, and representatives from international organizations and the public and private sectors. The summit series has attracted over 140,000 participants throughout its successive editions.
An official ASEZA delegation led by Chief Commissioner Shadi Ramzi Al-Majali represented Aqaba, aiming to solidify the city's position on the global map and enhance its presence at international forums focused on the future of cities and sustainable urban development.
The authority's participation aligns with ongoing efforts to boost Aqaba's international profile, build strategic partnerships with global cities and institutions, and exchange expertise in urban development.
This year's summit focused on several core themes, including resilient and regenerative cities, smart cities, future cities, and co-innovation platforms.
Al-Majali said the international forum provided a significant opportunity to review global best practices and share knowledge with participating cities and institutions, which will help support Aqaba's future development plans.
The chief commissioner praised the Jordanian Embassy in Singapore for its role in facilitating the delegation's mission and arranging meetings and events, which contributed to achieving the participation's objectives and strengthening Aqaba's presence at the summit.
On the sidelines of the event, Al-Majali and delegation members held bilateral meetings with city leaders, officials, and representatives from international organizations and global companies.
The meetings explored opportunities for cooperation, partnership, and knowledge exchange to support development projects and boost Aqaba's regional and international standing.
