Cairo, June 28 (Petra) -- The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Arab Parliament adopted a unified legislative position on regional security challenges, cyber sovereignty, and diplomatic mediation during a summit at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Sunday.

The eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and heads of Arab councils and parliaments concluded with the adoption of several resolution frameworks aimed at safeguarding the sovereignty and security of Arab states.

Lawmakers passed a parliamentary resolution renewing full support for Palestinian rights and rejecting ongoing campaigns aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause, affirming its status as the central issue for the Arab region.

The summit also adopted a resolution firmly rejecting Iranian military actions that targeted several Arab countries, declaring that the protection of Arab national security and state sovereignty remains a collective, non-negotiable priority. A separate resolution condemned Israeli military strikes on Lebanon and Syria, as well as Israeli interventions in the Federal Republic of Somalia, reaffirming support for the territorial integrity and stability of those nations.

To address technological advancements, the heads of parliament approved a guiding Arab parliamentary vision to enhance regional digital sovereignty. The framework is designed to help Arab states upgrade domestic legislation regarding cybersecurity, data protection, digital integration, and the regulation of artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies.

The Arab parliamentary leaders welcomed a memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at addressing outstanding disputes, including the cessation of military operations and guaranteeing the freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The summit praised the joint mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan, alongside the diplomatic contributions of Egypt and Oman, in ongoing negotiations to foster regional stability through dialogue and peaceful mechanisms.

On Yemen, the gathering reaffirmed its support for the legitimate Yemeni government and the country's territorial unity, backing a comprehensive political resolution based on national dialogue outcomes and relevant international resolutions.

The conference concluded with a call to sustain continuous coordination among Arab legislative bodies and activate parliamentary diplomacy to protect shared interests across regional and international forums.
