Amman, August 4 (Petra) -- The Arab Potash Company will fully finance the construction and equipping of a new outpatient clinic building at Karak Government Hospital at a cost of JD4 million, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

According to a company statement issued Tuesday, the funding covers the project's design, construction and engineering supervision. The initiative is part of the company's integrated corporate social responsibility program to ensure implementation in line with the highest standards, supporting the development of the healthcare sector and improving essential services, particularly in the southern governorates.

The company said the project will significantly strengthen Karak's healthcare infrastructure by providing a modern outpatient facility that streamlines medical services, expands the number of specialized and subspecialty clinics, and enhances the efficiency of healthcare delivery while meeting the hospital's future needs.

The project addresses the growing demand for outpatient services at Karak Government Hospital, where the existing clinic building can no longer accommodate rising patient numbers and newly introduced medical specialties. The current facility serves around 1,500 patients and visitors daily, while the new building is expected to increase the hospital's capacity to approximately 4,000 patients and visitors each day upon its scheduled completion by the end of 2027.

Construction has been awarded to a local contractor, with an implementation period of 18 months. The project will be carried out in accordance with the highest engineering and technical standards.

Chairperson of the Board of Directors Shehadeh Abu Hudeib said the project reflects the company's shift in corporate social responsibility from supporting individual initiatives to financing strategic development projects that strengthen national infrastructure and address citizens' priority needs.

He said the company directs its community investments toward projects capable of delivering measurable improvements in essential public services, increasing their efficiency, meeting growing demand and generating lasting value for local communities.

Abu Hudeib said funding the project reflects its importance in upgrading one of Karak's main healthcare facilities and improving the quality of medical services provided to residents. He added that the company will continue supporting high-impact projects in the health and education sectors under its development program through 2027, reinforcing its role as a national partner in advancing sustainable development.

The outpatient clinic building will be constructed within the hospital grounds and will have an initial built-up area of approximately 5,600 square meters, subject to final engineering designs and technical requirements.

The facility will include reception, registration and appointment departments, a modern pharmacy, laboratories, a radiology department, and specialized clinics in cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dentistry and other specialties. It will also include administrative and service facilities, training and education halls, separate outpatient services from the emergency and inpatient departments, accessible facilities for people with disabilities, and adequate parking, while adhering to the highest standards of quality, patient safety, infection prevention and control, and privacy.

The Arab Potash Company said the project builds on its long-term approach to investing in sustainable development through corporate social responsibility. It has invested approximately JD43 million in health, education, infrastructure and youth empowerment projects across the Kingdom over the past five years.

The company has also allocated JD30 million for development projects in the health and education sectors between 2025 and 2027, reaffirming its commitment to investments that deliver sustainable development, improve quality of life and support local communities, particularly in Jordan's southern governorates.
