Amman, July 19 (Petra) -- The Arab Potash Company (APC) and Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) signed a partnership agreement to develop an integrated industrial complex in Aqaba and Shidiya and establish the Jordanian Advanced Company for Specialized Fertilizer Industries.

In a joint statement Sunday, the companies said the project represents a key step in their growth strategies for the fertilizer and petrochemical sectors by developing advanced downstream industries that integrate potash and phosphate resources to produce specialized, high-value-added products.

The project aims to establish a complete industrial value chain, extending from the extraction and processing of raw materials to manufacturing and export, maximizing the use of Jordan's natural resources and increasing the contribution of downstream industries to the national economy.

Chairperson of the JPMC Mohammad Thneibat said industrial integration between the phosphate and potash sectors creates new opportunities for developing mining and chemical industries and increasing their contribution to economic growth.

He added that the joint investment provides a strong foundation for future industrial projects based on value addition and the efficient integration of national resources.

Chairperson of the APC Shehadeh Abu Hudeib said the partnership marks a new phase of strategic cooperation between Jordan's leading mining companies.

He noted that the integrated industrial complex reflects the companies' commitment to developing advanced downstream and derivative industries that maximize the economic value of national resources, enhance long-term operational and financial sustainability and support the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision.

CEO of the APC Maan Nsour said the project represents an advanced implementation of the company's growth strategy for the fertilizer and derivative chemicals sector for 2024-2034.

He explained that the project is based on flexible operational plans designed to respond to global market changes while balancing sustainable profitability and risk management. It will also support expansion in specialty fertilizers and derivative industries, diversify products and improve access to key international markets.

Nsour said the project aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision's focus on developing mining and chemical industries, strengthening industrial integration and increasing the sectors' contribution to economic growth.

He added that the initiative represents a qualitative shift from exporting raw materials toward producing advanced, high-value-added industrial products, reinforcing Jordan's position as a regional hub for specialty chemical industries.

CEO of the JPMC Abdul Wahab Rawad said the project represents a significant milestone in cooperation and industrial integration between Jordan's major mining companies. He said the new industrial complex will strengthen national export capabilities, increase production flexibility and generate sustainable economic value and returns for both companies.

Rawad added that the project reflects the commitment of the JPMC and the APC to developing specialized fertilizer industries related to phosphate, phosphoric acid and potash by utilizing advanced industrial technologies and accumulated expertise.

He said the initiative will support downstream industries, strengthen Jordan's integration into global value chains and contribute to positioning the Kingdom as a reliable supplier of specialized fertilizers in regional and international markets.
