Amman, January 11 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC), Mohammad Taani, affirmed the Jordan-EU Summit represents an "advanced model" of Jordanian cooperation with European countries in supporting sustainable development and clean energy.
Taani added that this vision contributes to build a "sustainable" economy based on innovation and renewable energy, achieve energy equity, and enhance the role of human beings in development.
In remarks to "Petra" on Sunday, he said Jordan's official accession to the Global Energy Transition Forum confirms the "shared commitment to achieving tangible" progress in using renewable energy and promoting the green transition.
Additionally, he said the summit's outcomes reflect Jordan's "commitment" to shifting towards a sustainable green economy, promoting the use of renewable energy through renewable energy and electricity storage projects and improving energy and water efficiency.
Taani added that the summit's joint program underscored support for reforms in financial governance and economic management, mainly expanding the productive economy, improving the business environment, enhancing transparency and financial efficiency, and developing tools for managing public debt and government spending.
Taani commended the summit's recommendations to support industrial initiatives related to a low-carbon economy.
Taani noted this effort would also enable Jordan to develop the infrastructure for green hydrogen and circular economy projects, expand employment, entrepreneurship, and vocational training opportunities, and enhance role of women and youth in the labor market.
