Amman, March 3 (Petra) Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti on Tuesday visited the Hawk/20 missile unit, where he was received by the Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the unit's commander.

Huneiti was briefed on the unit's technical and operational readiness, as well as measures taken in recent days to counter missiles and drones that targeted sites and facilities across several the Kingdom.

He said that protecting Jordan's airspace is a sovereign duty that allows no compromise or negligence. He added that the Jordanian Armed Forces will not permit any violation of national airspace and will respond firmly to any threat to the country's security and the safety of its citizens.

Huneiti said that the General Command, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, continues to develop and modernise air defence systems in line with evolving requirements and technological advancements.

He added that investment in specialised training and qualification remains ongoing, enhancing readiness and reinforcing professionalism in carrying out assigned duties.

Accompanied by senior officers, Huneiti joined personnel at Muwaffaq Al Salti Air Base for Maghrib prayer and Iftar. He commended their high level of vigilance and dedication in safeguarding the Kingdom's airspace and maintaining its security and stability.

He said that the Arab Army would remain the shield protecting the nation and a steadfast bulwark in the face of all challenges.
