Amman, May 4 (Petra) -- The Southern Military Zone on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the kingdom using a drone along its western border, the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army said in a statement.

Border guard units detected the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and applied rules of engagement, successfully downing the craft inside Jordanian territory. The operation was carried out in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The military did not specify the exact quantity or type of drugs seized but confirmed the materials had been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation.
