Amman, Aug. 18 (Petra) -- Teams taking part in the 11th Asian U-17 Handball Championship have started arriving in Amman ahead of the tournament, which Jordan will host from Thursday with the participation of a number of Asian teams.

Qatar was among the first teams to arrive, followed by Iran, while the remaining delegations are expected to arrive over the next two days. The organizing committees have completed arrangements for receiving the delegations and meeting their requirements.

The tournament is being hosted as part of Jordan’s position in Asian handball. The Jordan Handball Federation and the organizing committee have worked to provide the participating teams and delegations with the necessary conditions for the tournament.

The technical meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, attended by the technical committee and representatives of the participating teams. It will cover the tournament’s technical and organizational regulations, the competition format, and the jersey colors to be used by the teams during matches, along with other arrangements ahead of the start of the competition.

Jordan Handball Federation President Tayseer Mansi said the federation, in cooperation with the organizing committee, had completed preparations to receive the participating delegations.

Mansi welcomed the participating teams and said Jordan was looking forward to hosting a tournament that reflects the standing of Jordanian handball.

"The Jordan Handball Federation and the organizing committee began preparations early to provide the required organizational, technical and administrative arrangements," he said. "We seek to stage a tournament that reflects Jordan’s ability to host continental competitions and the strong fraternal relations between Jordan and the various Asian handball federations." The tournament has attracted the attention of Jordan’s handball community, with expectations of competitive matches and an event that reflects the history of Asian handball and Jordan’s experience in hosting sporting competitions.
