Amman, August 3 (Petra) - The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has handled 88 cases involving the trafficking, smuggling, sale, and possession of crystal methamphetamine since launching an intensive crackdown on the drug a week ago, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday.

Authorities investigated 27 trafficking, distribution and smuggling cases across the Kingdom, arresting 48 suspects. In the remaining cases, officers arrested another 90 individuals for drug use, seizing varying quantities of crystal meth.

The primary operation involved intercepting three liters of liquid crystal meth at the Jaber Border Crossing, carried out in coordination with Jordan Customs and security agencies.

Following intelligence linking a suspect to regional smuggling syndicates, authorities arrested the individual upon entry into the Kingdom. A vehicle search revealed the illicit liquid hidden within the car's components, and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the intended recipient inside Jordan.

The PSD stressed that they will continue to eliminate the drug's threat to public safety and raise awareness about its lethal impact.

Authorities urged the public to report any information related to illicit drug activity to the emergency line (911), assuring that all tips will be handled with strict confidentiality.
