Amman, Feb. 24 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, announced the Zakat Fund will pay off loans of more than 100 indebted women during the month of Ramadan.

The fund will also provide Eid cash gifts to families benefiting from its services and implement income-generating projects as non-refundable grants to empower families economically.

Khalayleh's remarks came during his participation at the Government Communication Forum, organized by the Ministry of Government Communication on Tuesday.

Talking at the event, Khalayleh emphasized the rejection of photographing impoverished families or violating their privacy, adding that charitable work must be conducted with "dignity and confidentiality, free from any media or political exploitation." Khalayleh noted the approved unified sermon features key themes and supporting scholarly material without obligating preachers to follow a specific text, which allows for addressing societal issues within the framework of moderate Islamic discourse and avoiding extremism and fanaticism.

Khalayleh stated the work of Jordan's Quranic centers is regulated by a system that requires teachers to obtain certified licenses to ensure education quality and apply a moderate approach.

He affirmed residents of the Gaza Strip are treated equally as Jordanians in all ministry services, including Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages and access to various Zakat Fund programs.

Noting the ministry's plan for Ramadan, he said activities feature "intensive" educational, and media programs in mosques nationwide, as well as a comprehensive plan for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, emphasizing the continued development of oversight and service programs to enhance public confidence.

Under the plan, Hashemite Scientific Councils are held on Fridays under royal patronage, as well as organizing the Hashemite International Competition for males with the participation of 60 countries, as the final rounds of the local competition for females will be aired on Jordanian TV.

Meanwhile, Zakat Fund’s Ramadan campaign includes distributing 12,000 shopping coupons worth JD30 each, totaling JD360,000, as well s distributing 40,000 food parcels through Zakat committees.

The campaign will also provide cash gifts to poor households and orphans worth JD40 each, deliver 15 productive projects at a cost of JD45,000 and restore 10 homes for underpriviliged families, as well as holding group Iftars for orphans and organizing 4 charitable gatherings and free medical days.
