Aqaba, Dec. 14 (Petra) -- The Ayla Oasis Development Company announced the launch of a new initiative to promote recycling of plastic and metal containers through the operation of three smart waste sorting machines, developed in cooperation with the Our Environment project and supported by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and Plan International.

According to an Ayla statement issued on Sunday, the initiative forms part of Ayla’s broader efforts to foster a culture of sustainability and support the Kingdom’s green economy ecosystem. The machines will be installed at three key locations within Ayla: Marina Village, the main staff offices, and the Golf Academy, ensuring broad access for residents, visitors, and employees.

The smart machines enable users to recycle plastic bottles, metal cans, and bottle caps through a digital application that calculates reward points for each item deposited. These points can be redeemed for special offers and discounts, including direct discounts at participating outlets in Marina Village.

Ayla Chief Executive Officer Sahel Doudin said the launch of the machines reflects Ayla’s firm commitment to environmental innovation and the development of sustainable solutions aligned with international best practices.

He added that introducing smart recycling technologies enhances environmental awareness within the community and supports Ayla’s vision of building a sustainable urban environment that contributes to green growth targets under the Economic Modernization Vision.

For her part, Our Environment Project Founder Sara Alyan said the partnership aims to empower the community to actively participate in environmental protection through innovative and user friendly solutions.

She expressed hope that the project would generate a positive environmental impact within Ayla and across Aqaba, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision’s goal of developing smart and green Jordanian cities.
