Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) – Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Yazan Khudair met on Monday with a British media delegation visiting the Kingdom at the invitation of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) to explore Jordan’s tourism, archaeological, and natural attractions and enhance cooperation in promoting the Kingdom globally.
Khudair highlighted the importance of the visit in showcasing the diversity and richness of Jordan’s tourism product. He said the Kingdom possesses exceptional tourism assets that combine history, culture, and nature, supported by security, stability, and hospitality that shape the Jordanian tourism experience.
He stressed that the tourism sector enjoys the direct support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, noting their continued directives to enhance the sector’s competitiveness and role as a key pillar of the national economy and a source of job creation and community development.
Khudair emphasized the media’s vital role in promoting tourism by conveying an authentic image of Jordan’s destinations to global audiences, noting that international media coverage and reports help attract more visitors to the Kingdom.
He added that the tourism sector is expected to witness further growth, especially with the cessation of the war on Gaza, supported by the expansion of low-cost airline routes, improved air connectivity, and the use of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence to enhance promotional campaigns.
Khudair also reviewed key developments in the tourism sector, projects under the Economic Modernization Vision, and ongoing efforts by the Ministry, the JTB, and the Department of Antiquities to develop the tourism product, expand markets, diversify experiences, and preserve archaeological sites.
Members of the British media delegation expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and the visit’s organization, voicing interest in promoting Jordan’s diverse tourism offerings and growth potential.
The delegation, visiting for several days, includes representatives from the BBC, Lonely Planet, and The Daily Telegraph. Their itinerary covers key sites such as the Roman Amphitheater, downtown Amman, the Jordan Museum, the Citadel, Ajloun Castle, the Ajloun Cable Car, the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain, Jerash, the Baptism Site, the Dead Sea, Petra, and Aqaba.
The visit complements similar programs organized by the JTB for delegations from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Poland to promote Jordan in major global tourism markets.
