Ceremony in Zarqa commemorates 10th anniversary of Major Rashed Al Zyoud's martyrdom

Zarqa, March 2 (Petra) - The Martyr Rashed Al Zyoud Association- Charity and Development held a ceremony on Sunday evening to mark the 10th anniversary of the martyrdom of Major Rashed Al Zyoud.
The event was attended by national and official figures, the martyr's family, and a gathering of guests and national affairs specialists. Participants emphasized that Al Zyoud’s memory represents a bright model in the record of sacrifice and redemption established by members of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army in defense of the homeland and its stability.
Former Minister Mohammed Dawoudia said the martyrs of the Arab Army had watered Jordan's soil with their blood, noting that the journey of sacrifice continues and that the Jordanian soldier is a potential martyr from the moment of joining the armed forces. Dawoudia recalled the sacrifices of Jordanians throughout the state’s history and the martyrs Jordan has provided for the homeland and Arab causes.
Member of Parliament Mohammed Jamil Al-Thahrawi noted that the story of Rashed Al Zyoud has become a lesson for generations and that his memory will remain present in the conscience of Jordanians. He said the hero gave his life for the country so that citizens could remain safe in their homes, schools, and universities.
Journalist and novelist Ramadan Rawashdeh spoke on the process of building the Jordanian state and the formation of its national identity. He highlighted the firm relationship between Jordanians and their army, noting that its rifles were only directed toward the enemy or those who threaten national security. He stated that celebrating martyrs is a celebration of the values of sacrifice and giving.
Ghassan Al Zyoud, head of the association, presented an overview of the organization’s key programs and projects inspired by the values of loyalty to the sacrifices of martyrs. He announced the launch of the Rashed Al Zyoud Award for Creativity, which covers three fields: short films produced using artificial intelligence, works contributing to the fight against terrorism and extremism, and the humanitarian story.
Writer Hisham Al-Qawasmeh recited a poem embodying the meanings of loyalty and sacrifice, recalling Al Zyoud’s heroics in defending the homeland.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, moderated by writer Mohammed Abdul Karim Al Zyoud, the martyr’s father, retired Major General Hussein Al Zyoud, presented commemorative shields to participants.
The event was attended by Karol Leśniak, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Amman, the Military Attaché, and three soldiers from the Polish GROM unit of the Polish Special Operations, whom Major Rashed had helped train militarily.
