Chamber: Industrial Production Steady, July Shows Gains

Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) -- Jordan's industrial production rose 1.22 percent in July compared with the same month last year and climbed 4.61 percent from June, the Jordan Chamber of Industry said, citing improved momentum in manufacturing activity.

Deputy Director-General Ishaq Arabiyat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) the July figures point to a broader pickup in industrial output. Manufacturing, which accounts for about 88.7 percent of the weight of the industrial production index, saw output rise 2.01 percent year-on-year and 4.29 percent from June, a gain Arabiyat described as tangible improvement in the country's leading industrial sector.

The chamber is optimistic about the sector's performance in the coming months, Arabiyat said, pointing to July's stronger indicators alongside solid industrial export growth in 2026.

He said the trend reflects sustained demand for Jordanian goods and the industry's ability to reach foreign markets despite regional and international volatility.

"We hope the continued growth in exports and improving economic activity will translate into stronger industrial production levels in the coming months, and that we see clearer improvement in industrial indicators by year's end," Arabiyat said, citing ongoing programs under the Economic Modernization Vision and measures to boost industrial competitiveness and stimulate investment and production.

The Department of Statistics (DOS), in its monthly report, put the general industrial production index up 0.21 percent for the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period last year.

On a monthly basis, the index rose 1.22 percent in July from a year earlier and 4.61 percent from June. The index for the seven-month period stood at 88.53, up from 88.35 in the same period of 2025.
