Amman, Jan 31 (Petra) – Some 438 charitable associations, centers, and institutions that provide care to orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities on Saturday received annual royal aid on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II's birthday.

At a meeting, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who also heads the committee following up on the implementation of His Majesty's initiatives, congratulated His Majesty on his 64th birthday, wishing him continued health and well-being.

In his address during the Royal Court ceremony to hand over the aid, in the attendance of Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa, Amman Governor Yasser Adwan, and representatives of beneficiary organizations, Issawi said the annual royal initiative embodies the values of giving and solidarity upon which Jordanian society is founded.

It reflects His Majesty's keenness to empower charitable institutions to continue their humanitarian tasks, he said, noting that the royal initiatives have served as a bridge with citizens in all their locations, especially those most in need of support and care.

The initiative, launched in 2011 in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development, aims to enable charities to continue providing high-quality and sustainable services that improve the quality of life for targeted groups throughout the Kingdom, he noted.

"The importance of this initiative lies, not only in its financial value, but also in its profound social impact, its role in enhancing sustainability of charitable associations and institutions, supporting their productive and operational projects, and empowering them to fulfill their role as key partners in social development," said Issawi.

The aid is an incentive to continue the noble humanitarian mission undertaken by these institutions, he said, adding that it also encourages other associations and centers to develop programs and enhance their services so they can benefit from the aid in coming years.

Issawi commended the efforts of all those involved in implementing the initiative and delivering the aid with a spirit of responsibility, fairness, and transparency, pledging the continuation of royal initiatives to promote the values of solidarity and compassion within Jordanian society.

For her part, the Social Development Minister said the noble royal grant embodies His Majesty's approach to supporting the most vulnerable groups and enhancing services to them through empowering relevant associations, centers, and institutions across the Kingdom.

She said the initiative continued for the sixteenth year in a row, targeting associations and institutions concerned with the care of people with disabilities and sheltering orphans and those without family support, and the elderly, in addition to a number of protection and care homes affiliated with the Ministry.

Mustafa said the Ministry took into account areas with developmental needs, supporting 96 associations, centers, and institutions in the northern, central, and southern Badia regions.

The Ministry, she said, is working on updating the National Social Protection Strategy for the years 2025–2033 and implementing programs that include establishing inclusive day centers and mobile early intervention units.

These efforts are complemented by initiatives to integrate people with disabilities, with 665 individuals successfully reintegrated into their biological and foster families, she said.

She emphasized the ongoing development of legislation governing the associations sector to enhance fairness, transparency, and good governance.

The heads and representatives of beneficiary associations expressed appreciation for the annual Royal initiative, which largely supports the sustainability of their work and enables them to continue providing care and protection to orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities across the Kingdom.
