Amman, August 23 (Petra) – In line with the Royal interest in developing the Kingdom's interactive education sector and providing innovative learning environments for children, Children’s Museum Jordan (CMJ) was established in 2007 by a Royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.
On its goals, the museum aims to create an educational institution that ignites imagination and stimulates curiosity in future generations, making learning an "enjoyable and accessible journey for all." In remarks to "Petra" Sunday, Lara Obeidat, CMJ Director, said the museum continues to implement this Royal vision under its mission of "developing generations that seek knowledge" and its message focusing on "learning as an enjoyable and accessible experience for all." Obeidat added that the museum provides an interactive learning environment through its various exhibits, facilities, programs, and events offered throughout the year, becoming a venue for children to discover the world for themselves.
She noted that the balance between education and entertainment is "central" to the museum's experience, based on the philosophy of "learning through play and discovery." In 2025, she announced the museum welcomed over 315,000 visitors, bringing its total number of visitors since its founding to 4.6 million.
Qualitatively, she noted that the museum monitors visitor impressions and opinions, and documents testimonials from children, parents, and teachers to enhance its content.
Regarding supporting extracurricular education, the museum enriches formal learning through interactive experiences that embody the scientific concepts and skills students learn.
She said the museum features over 190 exhibits, each reflecting a scientific idea or principle that children can explore firsthand.
Obeidat noted that the museum grants children with disabilities and their families free entry year-round, and the museum's facilities are fully equipped to accommodate this group.
Furthermore, she said the museum holds special activities to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
She underscored the exhibits and activities are "accessible" to all children without discrimination or segregation, promoting values of inclusion.
Since its launch, she said the "Mobile Museum" has welcomed over 750,000 visitors and, for the first time, successfully covered all of the Kingdom's governorates within a single year in 2025.
She said the museum integrates technology into a child's experience, based on a broader perspective, aimed to empower children with the necessary skills in the technological age by fostering awareness of safe use.
