Crown Prince Attends Jordan's Historic World Cup Opener Against Austria

Amman, June 17 (Petra) -- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended Jordan's opening match against Austria at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Wednesday, supporting the national team in its historic debut at the global tournament.

Joining the Crown Prince at the match were Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association and the West Asian Football Federation, as well as a number of Their Royal Highnesses princes and princesses.

Jordan lost the Group J encounter to Austria but delivered a spirited performance throughout the match, displaying disciplined defensive and attacking play that earned widespread praise from observers.

The national team maintained its tactical organization across both halves as it competed in its first-ever FIFA World Cup match following its historic qualification for the 2026 tournament.

Jordan will return to action on June 23, when they face Algeria in the second round of Group J, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 a.m. Jordan time.
