Amman, September 16 (Petra) -- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Regent, chaired part of a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday to review a number of matters relating to key sectors.

According to a royal court statement, the Crown Prince called for intensified efforts to address the economic consequences of instability in the region, instructing that supply chains be treated as a national priority, and that the necessary measures be taken to maintain strategic stocks of essential materials and commodities.

His Royal Highness highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah II’s focus on expanding avenues for international political and economic cooperation, and directed the government to pursue and build upon these efforts and to draw up action plans with clear timelines.

The Crown Prince underscored the need, at the same time, to prioritise the interests of citizens in order to improve their standard of living.

His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of promoting the tourism sector, one of the Kingdom’s key economic drivers, by addressing challenges associated with the management of tourism sites and the diversification of target markets, thereby ensuring the continuity of inbound tourism and enhancement of the visitor experience.

Regarding the initiatives of the National Council for Future Technology, the Crown Prince underscored the importance of continuing to develop successful initiatives such as the Digital Health Centre, which provides telemedicine services, and the ‘Sanad’ application, which has brought about a marked improvement in digital services for citizens.

His Royal Highness urged improving data management in the public sector to enable the effective use of artificial intelligence tools for analysis, deriving indicators, and making accurate and timely decisions.

The Crown Prince also expressed his condolences to the families of the National Military Service conscripts who died in a bus accident on the Desert Highway recently, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

His Royal Highness also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the security agencies in safeguarding the security and safety of citizens.

For his part, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan expressed the government’s appreciation for His Royal Highness’ interest in the projects and programmes being implemented across various sectors, emphasising the government’s commitment to advancing implementation of key national projects included under all pillars of the Economic Modernisation Vision.

Minister of Transport and Minister of Labour Nidal Katamine gave a briefing on the progress of the Aqaba Railway project and its integration with the Maan–Aqaba Land Development Corridor, as well as transport and freight development projects.

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh also gave briefings on the current state of supply chains at the ports of Aqaba, and on strategic stocks of essential commodities and energy, in light of the current regional circumstances.
